Happy Halloween!!

B at the Pumpkin Patch

B at the Pumpkin Patch

Yup, it’s been awhile, and even longer since I updated about our little one.  She’s nearly 10 months old now and is standing up on her own and crawling all over the place.  Walking is not far away!  Last Sunday we took her to pick out a pumpkin for Halloween and she did just that.  She’s the most beautiful thing in the world and we’re having the best time with her as she grows up.

As for us, I’ve been working up in Glendale a lot lately and Monique has recently landed a new job at Yamaha!  We’re excited about the holidays and can’t wait to celebrate a big 1st birthday in January!

What is a Grub Box?

When I was a kid and we’d go on a family camping trips, we took along something called a Grub Box.  This was something my dad had made that housed all of the camping essentials.  It’s a big wooden box with handles and a drawbridge type door that can be used as a work surface (work = making sandwiches much of the time).  We’re planning a camping trip at the end of the month and I thought it would be cool to have a grub box for the occasion, and camping trips going forward as our little one gets older.  There are many camping trips in her future, and it’s nice to carry on traditions this way.

So there it is.. I spend about 6 hours on it total, over 2 weekends.  It’s made from a couple of different types of plywood, a ton of screws, somce glue, and a few misc pieces of hardware.  It’s about half full for now, but we’ll make sure it’s good and packed before we leave for the trip!

First Trip to the Park

There’s been a long gap in posts around these parts. The little girl pictured here is the main reason for that, of course. But I’ve also been busy with some side-work, sneaking in some fun here and there, and work work work. It’s all good stuff as our now 2-month old is changing day to day and we’re getting used to the patterns of parenthood.

Today we took her to the park to feed the ducks for the very first time in her life. Heck, she didn’t know what ducks were before today (and still doesn’t). We were there almost an hour before we headed back home to give her some grub. She likes to eat and sleep more than anything else. She sleeps like I do… a lot. In fact she’s slept through the night most nights she’s been alive. A chip off the old block!

For some reason I enjoy the funnier expressions on her face for photos. There are the sweet ones too, but I laugh every time I see one of her weird expressions so I chose one of those for this post. She looks like she’s wearing a military helmet in this one. Something out of Band of Brothers or something.
