L.A. Chargers?

I’ll admit it… I’m a Charger fan. I’ve been a Charger fan since I was a kid. My best friend in grade school introduced me to them and I couldn’t help but become a fan. With Dan Fouts as QB, and Don Corryel as coach, they had a big time offense that was just plain fun to watch. It seemed like they would pass every play (think of the Rams today) and they didn’t have that great of a defense, so the combined scores of their games would be really high.
Recently there’s been talk of the Chargers moving up here to L.A. and having the city build a new stadium for them downtown. While I wouldn’t mind that (living here and having my team come to town permanently), they have developed a great fan base in San Diego, not to mention all of the military people who love getting away on a Sunday and catching a game. Plus, SD isn’t so far away that I can’t attend the occasional game.
This bring us to the fans… I just don’t think that the fairweather L.A. fans will be too accepting. History shows that L.A. fans will rally behind a winning team (i.e., the Lakers) but don’t take too much to the losing bracket (Clippers, Rams).
So I guess I’m saying that they should stay in San Diego until San Diego does them wrong. If not building a new stadium is wrong, then come on up here! Heck, the Chargers started here way back in 1960 in the AFL playing in the L.A. Coliseum, so why not?
