I’m full.

There’s so much going on right now, I’m at my limit. But that’s a good thing. Between the baby, work, freelance stuff, and California catching on fire (we’re fine, btw), it’s a tough juggling act I’m doing lately.

Baby appointments are every 2 weeks now, we had shower #2 of 3 last weekend in San Jose, a number of critter-related classes are on the calendar in the months to come. We have a name picked out (which is top secret of course) ad we’re working on the nursery, getting it ready for our new daughter.

Weekend before the shower a friend and I went camping up north of Big Bear Lake. We went for two nights and it was really fun, extremely cold, and dark (fire danger was extreme, so we couldn’t have a camp fire!). We went hiking on Saturday pretty much all day and both nights we got some great photographs of the starry sky. For a sample of our handywork, Check out this slideshow!

    If 269 photos is a “sample” I hesitate to ask to see your full album! Looks like a great place for photographers!

    It was actually a fraction of what we took. I think the total was somewhere near 700. There’s still some fat I could have trimmed though, for sure.

    I took 503 photos over 4 days in Philly and NYC, and all you guys had to shoot was rocks and trees! You guys were unstoppable.

    Of course? What’s that mean? Were we supposed to be keeping our potential baby names secret those three times we were pregnant? Whoever told you that was yanking your chain. Out with it… let’s have it!

    Ha ha…

    Well, Joe and I had names picked out shortly after we got married. We shared them with people in casual conversation and now we have friends who have named their children these names. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional. More like those names were filed away in their brains and when it came time to name their children they recalled that they liked these names and probably didn’t remember the conversation we had.

    In any event, we’re in the process of telling immediate family only. The rest of you will have to wait! Besides, you already know the sex…this will be a nice surprise this holiday season!

    Lemme guess… Brandon and Brittany. Ha! Just kidding. I came across a boy named Sage yesterday. I wanted to beat his ass. Not because his name was Sage, but because he’d just thrown one of my gloves over the fence into the middle of a street. But being a boy named Sage is pretty much justification in and of itself. Did we “steal” any of your possible names? It’s ok if we did, ‘cuz we’re like three states away now. I remember it being a heavy, thoughtful discussion…

    “What about Cliff?”
    “Is that one of the one’s Joe and Monique want to use?”
    “No.”
    “Then we can’t use it.”
    “Ted?”
    “Joe and Monique want it?”
    “No.”
    “Then throw that out. Man, I wish we could remember what those names were they mentioned all them years ago!”
    “I know! They were good ones!”

    Oh I did! I really did want to use Famous. But I also didn’t want Social Services to take the baby away before we even left the hospital.

    As usual Joe - wonderful pictures!! You have an amazing eye. I can’t wait to meet your daughter. Monique - maybe you and I should put away baby gifts during the halo party! With 3 showers - there must be a lot!
