Happy New Year

Well if isn’t my old friend, 2007. Come in, sit down, take a load off. Can I get you a drink?

It’s my intention to have a nice 2007, and plans are shaping up for that very thing to happen. If I had to pick an early theme, it would be travel. We currently have trips planned to Monterey in February, Europe in May, Colorado in the Summer, and Grass Valley for the Holidays. Europe should be the one that sticks out. Monique and I are planning a trip overseas to celebrate 10 years of wedded bliss. Neither of us have ever been off the continent and we’re very much looking forward to the trip. I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of other trips slipped in there too. We want to try to go camping somewhere this summer, and we’ve been wanting to get back to Paso Robles to re-visit some favorite wineries. And, cf course, there’s always our Lake Arrowhead outing. During the year we’ll have our share of visitors too, as Hotel Popp already has some reservations booked for March.

As for resolutions, I don’t normally make them, but this year I’m determined to get some of the projects done that I’ve had “on the table” for the past little while. Stay tuned for more on these.

In honor of the new year, I have put together some stats from this past one. In 2006…

47 posts were made by me on joepopp.com (weak!)
2,102 emails were received in my main email account (which were not spam)
294 songs were added to my iTunes library (low, I know, I need to work on that - there’s 3,385 total songs in it)
2,911 photos were added to our Digital Photo library (which currently holds 16,026 photos taken since 2001)
1,047, or 36% of those photos made it to flickr

In addition to those life-changing stats (?), 2006 also saw Monique and I move to Cerritos. That’s old news to most of you, but still a major milestone as we purchased our first single family home in the process. We also sold our mini-SUV in favor of a suped-up, slightly more environmentally-conscious Volkswagen GTI. Monique drives it to work and loves it. I love it too when I get to drive it. Vroom!

Here’s hoping that you all make friends with 2007 too, and that it treats you well these next 12 months.
