Google updates…

Catching up on my reading of the Google blog today, I noticed two things that I thought were very cool. Both of them have to do with Google Maps. The first uses maps to route you to your destination using different types of public transportation, It’s called Google Transit. So if you wanted to go to the Angel Stadium for a game, but you lived in Newport Beach. It would tell you which buses to take. On certain searches it even estimates cost savings to take public transportation vs. driving yourself. It’s pretty limited in where you can search for now, but it has just recently added all of Orange County (OCTA buses) in there, and Burbank too!

Googlecalling

The second cool thing is what we at work used to call “click to call” and it’s a technology that’s been around awhile that hasn’t seen much press. When you search for a business using Google Maps you’ll see a link that says “Call” — click that and it’ll prompt you to enter your phone number. This is because it calls you first, then connects you to who you were wanting to call. For free, of course. What a great service!

that makes me think…joe… does your TL have navi? Always wondered how useful those navi systems are–always seem to be pricey for the fact that I can easily go via yahoo maps (though has anyone else noticed recently that the “driving directions” option is no longer listed? Can still link via my shortcut, but..well..I’m getting too far astray.
Been looking at TL’s for quite awhile…wife wants one in the worst way and I’ve been purusing the thought of the GTI. Which makes me think…does the GTI need premium? Think it might. Hmm.

Yup, both the TL and the GTI need Premium. It really depends on what you want. The GTI is much more a sports car with less polish when it comes to amenities, but still has its share. The TL is more of a sporty cruising car with all the fit and finish. Ours has the Navi, and I love it. We use it all the time. The TL may have the edge is raw power, but the GTI is more fun to drive. I would recommend getting one of each. ;-)

Yikes, I hope I didn’t drive anyone to Jamba Juice with this example over the past week. They’ve had some trouble with their strawberries!  I loves me some Jamba, but I’d steer clear of them for a bit.  Maybe have a Peppermint Mocha instead?
