Golfing Sharks

The Sharks couldn’t finish tonight. They lost game 7 in Colorado to the defending champs 1-0. Not that they didn?t’ have any opportunities to score, they just couldn’t finish.

I think what I’m feeling now is similar to how the Red Wing Fans felt when the Sharks ousted them in the first round in 93. Not that the Sharks were favored against the Avalanche, but I believe they outplayed them. The Avalanche just buried their chances, even though they had fewer chances than the Sharks. That’s usually how the sharks play, but not in this series.

The silver lining, if any, is that Nabokov and the other youngsters got really valuable playoff experience.

So they’re on vacation now. Better luck next year. It’ll be interesting to see what off-season moves they make. Selanne’s a free agent now, and the entire coaching staff, all the way up to the GM is without a contract.

I’m pretty let down, but I’m sure when I snap out of it I’ll realize what a tremendous season the Sharks had. Here’s hoping they finally get some of the credit they deserve next year.
