Weekend at the Races

Feel the irony in the title… I just watched the American Idol: Queen Edition tonight. Wasn’t blown away by anyone, but come on, there’s only one Freddy Mercury. Well, there was one, then he died and Paul Rogers now tours with the band. What’s up with that? But that’s not why I’m here…

My Dad and my brother and myself did our yearly thing and went out to Long Beach to watch the races. 3 days of sitting out in the sun watching cars go by. Sounds boring, but it’s not. We really have fun picking our cars and cheering them on. This year was the first for our new Canon 20D camera and I had fun with it. There’s plenty of material there! My favorite shot is pictured here, but there are many more on flickr.

    Cool picture Joe! Becky used to live right off those roads down in Long Beach so I always felt like I was a race car driver going to her house. Specially one week before the Gran Prix with the bleachers and barricades up.

    I’m a fan of auto racing where cars turn in both directions, so LB has always been on my list of races to attend, however I’ve never made it (being a church musician, this race usually falls near Easter…super busy time for me).

    You got some really great photo’s too. At first I thought you pulled them off a CART website. Well done. Indy’s F1 contract expires this year, and there are rumors that the circus will head to Vegas in ‘07. Get your camera ready!!!

    Glad I read the whole post… when I first glanced at it, I thought that was a screencap from GT4. :-)
