We’re All Moved In!

All Moved In!

Saturday was the big day that all of our stuff got here and interrupted our torrid pace of renovating the place. So we didn’t get every inch of painting done that we had planned on, but we got an amazing amount done in the little time we had. Every room of the house has been painted with the exception of the hall bathroom (Monique and I plan on making a weekend project out of that one). With the help and expertise of Monique’s parents we were even able to open up a six foot wide hole in the wall between the living room and our office, and move the other doorway in the office 11 1/2 inches to accommodate our desks. We had a lot of people come over to help out and we’re very grateful for all of it. Each of you have helped to make this house our home!

The look and feel of the place has quickly changed and become something that we’re very proud of already. As far as the paint colors go, Monique has quite a designer sense. I played art director to her vision and it came together very nicely. Every room’s color compliments the others, but nothing comes off as being too theme-ey. We still have a few big improvements to go. I have a shower door on order for the Master Bathroom, a meeting with a window replacement place today, plans to replace the fence behind the house, that hall bathroom project I mentioned earlier, cabinets to hang in the office, a flat-screen TV for the kitchen/dinette, Silestone countertops in the kitchen, re-vitalizing the Spa in the backyard, and much much more.

So as we’re moved in, and I have a few more days of vacation left, we’re hardly unpacked. The garage is full of stuff again that we need to find places for, and there are half-unpacked open boxes all over the house. So we’ve still got a lot to do even before we tackle those additional improvements. I’ll be uploading more photos to flickr, as I’m sure nobody is satisfied with this close-up shot of us celebrating on Saturday night. Can you tell by looking that I didn’t shower that day? Nice hair.

    Congrats on the new place! Almost a year and a half aftet Ericka and I moved into our house in Temecula we’re still “making it ours” (I just finshed painting the hall and bath downstairs this afternoon). It takes time, but is well worth it. Having something that says “J and M” when you walk in the door is priceless. Have fun with all your projects!
