Busy With Mom’s House

Whew! We’ve been over at my Mom’s place every day for the past week and a half! The weekend was full of Garage sale action as we wold a lot of stuff that my Mom wanted to get rid of before her big move. With a move like that comes a lot of decisions about what to leave and what to take with you and it’s been tough making those decisions, but also exciting to think of starting a new chapter in your life fresh.
My sister Karie flew down from my Mom’s new neighborhood to help with the sorting and packing. We had some decisions to make ourselves when Mom said she didn’t want to keep certain things. We had to decide if we wanted those things for our own families. It’s tough to make those choices as there’s a fine mine between something sentimental that you want to hold on to and something that will sit in a box in your attic that you’ll never use. Overall we got a TON done throughout my sister’s stay (She leaves on Tuesday). There’s a lot still to do, but we made a super huge dent and the rest is something that my mom has time enough to finish off with a little help from Monique and me.
But besides all that, we have packing of our own to do! We started packing a little, but still have a long way to go. We expect to have our place all packed up by March 18th. It’s getting very exciting and we have a lot to coordinate for the move and the home improvements we’re planning. The best part about it all is that we’ll have a lot of help. A lot of family and friends have already volunteered their skills to the cause, and March 18-22 will be the time most of it gets done. Thank you all that have offered to help, we’re takin’ you up on it! But of course, you don’t have to help us move, we’re actually getting movers this time! Wheee!
