Season Premieres

Tis the season to sick your Tivo on everything you can to sample the new fall season on TV. So far we’re watching Prison Break on Fox. It’s pretty good and seems to be in the same vein as LOST. Not quite as good as Lost, but still plenty watchable. Prison Break has been going for almost a month but the rest of the shows are just starting this week. Tonight we watched a couple of new shows: “How I Met Your Mother” on CBS, and “Kitchen Confidential” on Fox. Went into both with low expectations. Ended up liking How I Met Your Mother a lot more than I thought I would. Both of these shows star actors from that great canceled show, “Freaks and Geeks.” So they had that going for them. “Mother” also has Neil Patrick Harris in it, of Doogie Howser fame, along with a bunch of other familiar faces. NPH’s character actually had some lines in there that made me laugh out loud. I think we’re giving that show another shot next week.
There are a ton of shows coming up this week and next. Not to be missed are Lost and The Amazing Race. I think we’ll also stay tuned after Lost and check out Invasion. We’ll be skipping Commander in Chief as that looks like the lamest show ever. By the way, if you watch Lost, you should check out one of the official web sites for it. It’s pretty cool.

September 20th, 2005 at 8:07 amStill need to watch the first season of Lost before embarking on Season 2. How I Met Your Mother also stars the always entertaining Alison Hannigan (American Pie/Buffy) and that show has been getting some great early reviews. And don’t forget My Name is Earl with the great Jason Lee of Mallrats fame. Kitchen Confidential also stars another Buffy alumni, Nicholas Brendan who was like the Jack Tripper/Matthew Perry of Buffy.

September 21st, 2005 at 1:04 pmThe only new show I’ve decided to watch this year is My Name is Earl. I watched the premiere last night and really enjoyed it. It’s good to see that the Taco Bell guy hasn’t been typecasted.

September 21st, 2005 at 11:45 pmYeah! My Name is Earl was great! I was nervous about it but when I watched it was relieved that it had a great premise (the whole karma list thing) and it’s always good to see a couple Mallrats alumni again.

September 24th, 2005 at 1:58 pmHere’s another Lost website that’s pretty cool:
It’s a pretty comprehensive fansite that breaks down all the timelines, character connections, and all that freaky number stuff. It’s worth a look-see.

September 25th, 2005 at 2:49 pmI like the My Name is Earl too. It struck me as kinda Coen Brothers-esque. That’s good ’cause on accounta it was funny like that. Thing is, I’m a bit worried as to whether or not they’ll be able to keep it up.

September 26th, 2005 at 2:30 pmYeah, that’s a worry I always have with new shows I like. They usually end up getting canceled long before they run out of material though, so everyone wins! Or not.
