GTA: Vice City

I was pretty hooked on the very first Grand Theft Auto game when it was on my PC years ago. When I got a Playstation 2 and found out that the 3rd installment of the game was getting a massive overhaul and heading to that platform, I was pretty excited. It, of course, did not disappoint and was a great great game. Then came word on a quick follow-up to that game that would address things that they didn’t have time to add to GTA 3, improve on it, etc. Well, I was so impressed with GTA 3 that I didn’t put much thought into this new one, thinking “how much better could it be? The game just came out!”
Well, it’s a lot better. It’s the same game, pretty much, but the story, the environments, the theme, the soundtrack, the everything is better. Just a few things off the top of my head that you can do in Vice City that you couldn’t do in GTA3: ride motorcycles, buy properties, become a crime boss, rob stores, fly helicopters, and go to the mall.
One of my favorite things about this game is the fact that it’s well themed. As in the last iteration, there are fake radio stations that you can listen to in various places in Vice City, in cars, in stores, in buildings, in cut scenes, etc. The soundtrack is made up of mostly hits from the 80s. They even released a soundtrack and launched a website devoted to it… and when Rockstar games does websites, they do them right. Unbelievable detail about these radio stations. Check it out and I’ll bet you know most of the tunes.
If there’s anyone still left that has a Playstation 2 and does NOT have this game, I’d recommend getting it. I was late to the game, but I’m enjoying it quite a bit now.
