Finally on WordPress

After years of blogging on Movable Type, I’ve joined the ranks of the WordPress peeps. After working with Monique’s site to get it up and running I was getting impatient with MT. The version I was using was pretty out-dated.

I haven’t finished with this yet, I just threw this theme together over the weekend, and it’s based heavily on Monique’s. Heck, with all that time designing that thing it should run on more than just 2 sites! I plan on creating more themes so that you can choose one you like and view the site with it when you visit, just like with the last site.

Thanks to Jon for pointing me in the direction of the script for the right-hand sidebar menu. I’m not done tweaking the way it’s working yet, but it saves a lot of space, which I need since I’ve moved from a 3 column site to a 2 column site. Also gotta give Jon props for discovering WordPress just over a year ago! I waited out some upgrades and the new version is very very nice.

This is a work in progress for a bit, as I know there are some things that aren’t working. Give me some time to get acclimated.

Lookin’ good! I was looking at the site here at work and the flickr picture grid has a white border around them that makes me think of poloroid photographs! The reason I say that is that the white border on the bottom is twice the size of the border on the top and the sides. Very groovy throwback…even if you didn’t intended it.

Oh, it was intentional. ;-) Glad you like it!

Huh. Well, I get to work and find out that IE on Windows sucks. no shock there, but it’s screwing with both Monique’s site and mine. Looks like I have more work to do. Also, there’s a spooky Safari error with the rollovers on the sidebar menu. The links image doesn’t rollover, yet it rolls over in all other browsers. Really odd. Gotta work out the kinks.

Hey – is that your lamp at the top – cool graphic! I like the icons that allow you to go to certain things like the blog roll, etc.

Yeah, that’s my nightstand lamp. I think it turned out nice. I’m not thrilled to death with it, but it will do until I have more time to get bit more creative with it.
