The Amazing Race is over, and so is The Amazing Wager!

***Spoilers ahead for those of you who haven’t watched the season finale of The Amazing Race 7***
Like all the best teams, I ended up taking 2nd place. It seems that’s the trend in all of the recent Amazing Race seasons and it seems to be the case with our little wager thing we had going on the side as well.
For those not in the know, there were six of us who watched The Amazing Race together, at the beginning of the season we each put in $5 to the pot and then every week each of us would pick a couple as our “horse” whom we would root for. If our chosen couple was eliminated that week, we were out for the season with no chance to win the loot. The only real rule is that we couldn’t pick the same team two weeks in a row. You gotta have rules, this IS $30 we’re talking about here.
It came down to me and Dan as the final two in the wager and wouldn’t you know it, the Dan luck beat me out. I didn’t stand a chance with his crazy Dan luck in the mix, but I thought I’d give it a shot. I had Rob and Amber this week, and Dan had Uchenna and Joyce. Long story short, he got the booty and I got jack for the second step on the podium.
Of course, I picked Rob and Amber because I thought they were the best team and that they would win, but I did want Uchenna and Joyce to win the thing. They were more deserving of the prize money, and they were really the nicest couple in the running this time around. I’m glad that Rob and Amber stayed in it as long as they did because Rob was certainly fun to watch. He approached the game unlike anyone we’ve seen before and it was certainly refreshing, even though his tactics weren’t always on the up and up (depends on who you ask, I’m of the opinion you do anything you can to win).
I’d rank this season among the best we’ve seen, although we’ve only seen 3 now. We’ll certainly be anxious to see what the next season brings. Family Amazing Race? Who knows what that will be like.

Although I don’t have a problem with Rob’s crafty tactics, I did have that “come on, you guys already won a million dollars on Survivor” feeling, so I didn’t want them to win. America’s already being subjected to participating in their wedding.
