Palm Springs mini Vacation

I took off work on Friday and picked up Monique from her work and we headed out to Palm Springs to meet up with her parents who were staying at their time-share there all week. We had a great time relaxing and hanging out in the desert. Friday afternoon we took the Palm Springs Arial Tramway up to where it was snowing! Visibility was low so we didn’t get the killer view the spot is known for, but it was still a cool experience. We went out and played in the snow for a bit, then came in for a nice warm drink, and finally had a great dinner up in the restaurant called “elevations.”
On Saturday we had planned on golfing, but the weather didn’t look good for our early tee time so we skipped it. The weather turned out to be okay, which was disappointing, but we got to sleep in and grab a late breakfast before heading to the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens to see some wild critters. The weird but cool bonus was an enormous model train setup smack in the middle of the zoo. It was a nice little zoo that wasn’t too crowded so we got to see it all in about 4 hours without feeling rushed. That night we went to one of our favorite restaurants, the Yard House, where I had some killer swordfish and some good ole Harp to drink.
Sunday we checked out and headed back home, but not without a stop at the Cabazon outlets where we picked up some cookware for Monique and some lamps for the eventual re-design of our master bedroom. They’re very cool, I even picked them out! But I’ll let Monique describe them in detail.
You can see all kindsa pics from the little getaway trip on flickr.
