Developing the Photo section — Bahahah!

Get it? No? Fine.
Today I changed the left column a bit, making it utilize the photo sets I have on flickr that I share on flickr.com. I took advantage of having root access on my server now (new perk with the move) and installed some perl modules, including the flickr API. This allows me to pull things from flickr via a feed. I used this API along with a few other perl scripts I had to install, plus this handy plug-in. It’s been a long time since I had to do command line unix stuff, but somehow it came together. I’m sort of surprised I got it all to work.
Removing the old Photos section makes it a lot easier to post photos to the site, since I’d use flickr.com for that. It also eliminates one of my blogs within a blog. I’m down to two now, and maybe soon down to one. I’d have to get rid of the “What a Joe Likes” section to make it a one blog blog. Not sure what’s in store for the future of this site. I’d love to get a new design going, and I have some ideas for that, but I don’t have much spare time right now. Maybe in a month or so.
In other news, no call from the car dealer today, I guess that one car hasn’t been trucked in yet. Maybe tomorrow or Monday. I’d like to get his negotiation over with and get behind the wheel finally!
