Netflix gets social

Netflix just introduced a new feature on their site called “Friends” that lets you see what people you know are renting, and what they think of the movies they’ve been seeing. I dunno about this one. it seems kinda unnecessary. In fact, since the way to invite people is by using their email address, it seems like it’s just a clever way for Netflix to recruit new blood. I suppose I can’t fault them for being clever! But maybe I’m just not giving it a chance. If you’re a netflix member, and more importantly you know me, invite me to be your friend and we’ll see how this thing works. Here’s a sort of review and an in-depth look at the new features.

Just kidding…but wouldn’t this be an issue for those people that do rent things that they don’t care to have others see?
