Delicious Library

This is a picture of all of my video games. I found this very cool app that helps me catalog them, my DVDs, my books, and my CDs. It’s as easy as holding them up to my camcorder, which is attached firewirely to my mac. It scans just like a six pack at Vons and up comes all of the details for that item. It uses Amazon’s info, and it includes things in each record like List Price, Current Value, Customer Reviews, Summary, Actor List, etc. It took me about 15 minutes to scan all 70 of these games in, and the result is a nice shelf-view of all my stuff! Cool! You can also show them in a list view to see more details of all of them at once, which is a bit faster for sorting. The only thing this app is missing, and I guess they’re working on it, is an export to web feature so that anyone can access my library and see what I have. It does have the “out on loan” thing built in, though so I don’t forget that Dan is borrowing Full Spectrum Warrior!
The app is called Delicious Library, and It’s mac only. Sorry Windows peeps. Hopefully there’s something this easy and cool for tracking your collections.

November 30th, 2004 at 8:59 amDoes it use the UPC bar code or does it look at the front cover? Can you use a scanner instead of a camera?

November 30th, 2004 at 3:28 pmIt scans the barcode. Their site says you can use a barcode scanner. As for cameras, you just need a digital camera. So a digital web cam works, like an iSight, but digital camcorders connected via firewire also work.

November 30th, 2004 at 9:42 pmMy mind is still reeling at the fact that you own 70 games! Where do you find the time?

December 1st, 2004 at 12:05 pmI’m a deal hunter, I think I’ve only paid full price for about 20% of them. As far as the time to play them, that’s a tough one. I guess it’s just something I do when I have the time. And sometimes the time makes itself, when I’m up way too late.
If I had to guess I would say that I average about 4-6 hours a week playing games.
