New Mobiles

Monique and I changed mobile phone providers this weekend and are now with Cingular again. It’s one of those rare occasions where we didn’t change providers because we absolutely hate the one we had. I was pretty happy with Sprint as a provider. No, this change was because of the selection of Sprint phones and their internet service. Sprint offers great plans, but they currently don’t offer any phones that are bluetooth capable (something I’ll need in the near future), and their web service is seriously lacking. They offer it and all, but the way they force you to use their web site to send people e-mail and photos with their phones doesn’t lend itself well if you want to set up a photo blog or send a regular email to someone.
Like when we went with Sprint, we signed up for a 1 year contract this time. I vowed before never to sign a 2 year contract with a carrier, there’s just too many things to go wrong in a 2 year span that would make you want to jump ship, and they gouge you big time if you do that under contract. We kept our same numbers, which was a great experience. The new phones were receiving calls within hours of activation.
I’ll go into the phones later, but we are all Sony Ericsson’ed out this time around. Not only that but we got phones that are imports, so they aren’t very common, but they do all kindsa cool crap that some phones here don’t do yet, or at least the ones that do this stuff don’t strike my fancy like these did. Monique now has the SE Z600 and I have a SE K700i.
