A new one and an old one. First the new… Did you all catch that “Michael Vick Experience” commercial over the weekend? I think it was a Nike commercial, but who knows. Anyway, I laughed out loud. It’s one of those over the top special effect ads that wows you technically, but is funny on top of it. You kinda have to see it, but it’s got these guys lined up for a roller coaster type ride that has a single seat and is all Atlanta Falcon themed. One guy sits down, the operator dude pulls the shoulder restraint over him and slams a helmet on him and off he goes into this Michael Vick simulator. Pretty cool.

The second commercial has been around for awhile and is a radio spot. Not sure how far-reaching this is so maybe this is just for the locals. It’s a Panda Express commercial. You know, the “It’s Chinese for Yummy” one? The weird thing is that’s not even what bugs me. It’s the way they pronounce a word when describing one of their menu items. Beef with Broccoli. They pronounce the second O in broccoli. Now, Dana Carvey in his hey day aside, nobody does that, do they? “Delicious beef with brock-uh-lee. It’s weird man. And it’s not just the voice-over guy, the local radio personality repeats it as part of the script after the regular voice guy says it. We don’t really need to pronounce that letter. Maybe someone made a vowel trade with the people that put another I in Westminster?

    I was just talking to the guys at work about that commercial. I was crying. Just seeing the kid’s reaction to everything; with him screaming and flailing around. The commercial is just too funny. BTW, 3-0 Baby! You need blog updates of the Fantasy League.

    Haven’t seen or heard either commercial, but your comment on the vowel trade is hilarious. Next time I’m in town I’ll see how Slappy says broccoli–he’s one of the “Westminister”-pronouncing people.

    That Westminster thing was funny. I think I do say “brock-uh-lee”… but you got me all mixed up. I’ve been saying it out loud so much trying to figure it out that I don’t know what’s real anymore. AAH!! I need someone to catch me off guard and get me to say it without thinking about it.

    That Vick commercial is awesome. I want a ride like that. Of course, they were going to do a similar commercial about the Kurt Warner experience, but it kept breaking down.
