On Wednesday a site called a9.com was launched. It’s pretty cool. It’s a search engine, a lot like Google (part of it’s even powered by Google), but it takes things a step further. It does a much better job integrating search results with web traffic, referrers, photos, category filters, and more. Google does most of this under the hood too, but not with such a simple interface. The a9 company that built the site is a subsidiary of Amazon which you can tell from the logo.
I searched for “Joe Popp” and not only does my web site come up first, but within the list of photos that come up are two pictures of my livingroom! woah! I searched with the full names of a lot of people I know and I was really impressed with the results. Try it out on your full name and you could be staring at a picture of yourself!
Could this be the next revolutionary search engine?

September 17th, 2004 at 8:35 pmInteresting new search engine… I also saw “Joe Popp the Band.” Thats pretty cool. You should get one of their t-shirts. I wish I had a band named after me… There is Fountians of Wayne and another band called Bishop Allen, but no Wayne Allen the Band.

September 18th, 2004 at 1:43 pmYou run the Planet Porno web site??? That’s the first two links I got. I scanned through seven pages of results and never did see this site. I did a search on Power Pop Radio and powerpopradio.com didn’t come up in the first four pages of results. Hmm….
