Crazy Cryin’ AmazaCrazy Race!

So we’re nearing the end of our first season watching The Amazing Race. It’s been really great and definitely better than I had hoped for. The season finale is next Tuesday the 21st and there are 4 teams left in the game. I thought I’d throw my opinion around of the teams that are still in it. Don’t bank too much on my words though, since this thing could go in any number of directions, which is what makes the show great.
Chip & Kim – currently 1st – You gotta love Chip. He’s given his all the whole way, and even gone out of his way to help other teams. Kim on the other hand is nice and all that, but she’s dead weight when it comes to the race. She’s holding Chip back and I think that if he was paired with a better partner, they’d be the favorite. Still, it means a lot that I don’t think I’ve seen them argue once, at least not to the level of some of the other teams.
The Bowling Moms – currently 2nd – It’s amazing that these two are still in this thing. They’ve screwed up quite a bit and haven’t been the nicest to each other or to the other teams. They’re doing a great job at not coming in last though, and that’s all you have to do. Up until now. I hope they don’t win. The blonde mom’s voice bugs the crap outta me. she sounds like a 10 year old boy on christmas morning ALL THE TIME.
Brandon & Nicole – currently 3rd – I’ve been kinda rooting for these two ever since they opted not to shave their heads in a “Fast Forward.” They aren’t the best team, but they’re far from the worst. They seem to have the teamwork needed to win, but there are some things that will hurt them too. Brandon seems a bit too laid back, and Nicole is a bit of a baby. She’s quick to nominate him for the road block things and she doesn’t seem up to the physical demand that the race demands. They won’t finish last, and could win the whole thing.
Colin & Kristy – currently 4th – After watching last week’s show, I’m convinced that both of these people are psycho. That said, they’re the best team left IF, and that’s a big if, they stay on course and don’t annoy each other enough to where they make mistakes. They’ll be tough to beat, even with no money in the last leg of the race.
Want a prediction? Man, that’s a tough one. This is just a feeling I have, but I think Chip and Kim will win. Colin and Kristy will yell their way into 2nd. Brandon and Nicole will finish 3rd (God willing). And The Bowling Moms will bring up the rear, just because that’s where I want them to finish.
We’ll see what happens next Tuesday!

September 16th, 2004 at 12:17 pmHey!!!… You knew when you posted about the amazing race I would have a comment or 10…
Well I have to give it to you JOe, I am pretty much in agreement with you!… I hate Colin & Kristy and wish that last week was an elimination round..but I digress…I am also for chip and kim to win. They are the best of the options…I am glad the twins are gone. But I do miss Marla and Charla..They were really good for a laugh!! I will kill myself if Colin and Kristy win it all.. that would suck! I love the show and I can’t wait until next week!! -

September 16th, 2004 at 4:56 pmYou have to admit that the pure shock value of two people like Colin and Kristy brings you back for more. They aren’t nearly as annoying as Mirna and Shmirna were.

September 16th, 2004 at 11:27 pmI watched most all of the first season and enjoyed it, so when I stumbled on an episode this time around, I went ahead and watched it. I was completely appalled by one couple (was it Colin & Kristy?). The guy was a complete a-hole and was about to be thrown in a foreign jail because he wouldn’t pay the taxi driver the agreed upon $100 fare. During the ordeal, he humiliated, degraded, disrespected and yelled at his girlfriend. And at the end of the episode, she sheepishly tells the camera that it was all her fault for not supporting the guy (which is what he was yelling at her about). She should be hosting that “Girls With Low Self-Esteem” video series with Snoop Dogg.
Now that I’m typing this and reliving the memory, I’m getting a disgusting feeling in my stomach thinking about how much of an absolute jerk that guy is.
The Apprentice was a bit of a shocker tonight! I didn’t agree with the Donald’s decision, but oh well. Still waiting for the premiere of “Mark Burnett’s The Running Man”… I’ll buy a TiVo for that!

September 17th, 2004 at 12:52 amYeah, that was Colin. At his worst. He’s actually shown some compassion and actually apologized a couple of times since then. He was truly a jerk that episode you saw though. She’s got a bit of the crazy in the head thing going though, too. Of course, we’re a tthe mercy of editing so we only get what they want us to get. Makes for good TV though.
We don’t watch the Apprentice. This season there’s not a whole lot of good new stuff on, so maybe we’ll pick it up. I’ve heard great things.

September 22nd, 2004 at 9:18 amI just talked to Joe about this and reenacted Craig’s reaction to the whole show complete with finger gestures and profanity (against Colin and Christie, of course!). We are very very very happy that the OC has been represented well. Yeah!
*********
And Joe just said that the girls are useless??? What is this???? He does have a point since the girls always gave the road block to the guys, but if it was me and Craig, I would do the asame thing too! Am I useless??? I THINK NOT! Just smart!Even Craig said the same thing that if we did it, I would be the planner with the plane flights and he would do all of the eating and ascender/physical tasks.
I LOVE THIS SHOW! And it is very deserving of a second Emmy because there is no way the other reality shows can compete since there is so much coordination with the crews and weird contestants in foreign countries.
Look for Craig and his brother to do the show in the 25th installment since I should be retired from Disney by then.
Yeah Yeah yeah Chip and Kim!
