Can Lightning Strike twice?

Of course, I’m making a joke about the NHL champs, and what could be the next NFL champs, the Bolts! Go ahead… laugh. It’s really a funny joke. Okay maybe not. But it is a good sign when the Chargers finally sign their first round pick, the LAST first round pick to be signed by any team this year. With 2 pre-season games left we’ll see how much practice this young QB gets in before it’s time to play for real.
I’m one of the fans who thought that the first pick would be better used getting a huge O-lineman to help out Tomlinson in the running game. But that was just too obvious. I think the Chargers are hoping that a better passing game would open up the running lanes for LT too. But I think that teams will continue to key on the running game until they get beat with this new passing attack. Something that has some promise, since the Chargers have a lot of fine young receivers, but has yet to show any real grit during the regular season. If Phillip Rivers is the missing sprocket in the machine, then I’ll be pleasantly surprised that they Charger will win more than games this year, which is where I’m predicting their record will be come golfing season.
Of course, I’ll be right there watching my team throughout the season. Because that’s what fans do.
Do you think this low expectation thing will work? Here’s hoping I’m shocked and amazed by the Bolts this year!
