Sharks fall short – Season ends

Western Conference Finals? Sure, I’ll take it. I have to congratulate the Sharks on a fine season. One that few predicted would be so successful for them.

It all came down to playing against an ex-goalie who played for an ex-coach. The Calgary Flames are a team that plays a very similar system to the Sharks. And while a lot of people would think that it was Kiprusoff that would have to beat his old team, I believe it was team defense that achieved victory this time. The Flames were a lot more aggressive in the last two games. They beat the Sharks players to loose pucks more often then not, and clogged the neutral zone leaving very little open ice. Good team defense like that also gives up very few odd man rushes, something the Sharks had a lot of trouble with, and that Flames had no problem cashing in on them.

So if it was that the Sharks grew tired in their quest for the Cup, or they ran into a roadblock playing a mirror image of themselves, it just wasn’t meant to be this season. Hopefully Hockey will be alive and well next fall and we can start this whole roller coaster all over again!

This just sucks. Maybe next year will prove to be more fruitful for them.

Just remember, Joe. The Sharks are still better than the Blackhawks!

I will say that Jarome Iginla is so freakin’ good, he alone may force me to purchase the Center Ice package next year (if there is a next year). What are the chances that ESPN are actually going to show the Flames next regular season, really?
