It’s a Tower of Terror! (again)

TZTOT1_bigYep, the West coast has its very own version of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This one is slightly different than the one in Florida, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Today at work I had the chance to ride this new crazy elevator ride… 5 times. Yeah, that was probably pushing it, but the 5 of us that did it 5 times were having fun posing for the on-ride photo capture. You know, the cell phone shot, the see no hear no speak no evil thing, the picking bugs out of your neighbor’s hair and eating them pose, etc.

The ride is really well done, it’s actually one of the only two rides at Disney’s MGM Studios that I really enjoyed (Rockin’ Roller Coaster was the other). The theming is a little bit on the Haunted Mansion side, but not too close. You’re there discovering what happened to the Hotel back in 1929 that makes it so Terrorlicious. It’s sort of a time-shifty kinda deal where everything is done in the period, but you’re visiting today. Some of the place looks in perfect shape, and other parts are all cobwebbed out. There’s some impressive architecture in what is now the tallest attractions at the Disneyland Resort. The back story is a great one too, and you’ll especially like if you were a fan of the original Twilight Zone series. The effects on the ride are second to none. No spoilers here though, you’ll have to go ride it yourself, which I recommend. It Opens May 5th to the public!

I get to preview this new attraction tonight. I’m really looking forward to it after hearing your stories from Florida and the million times you’ve been on it this week.
