2 minutes for Traveling

Last weekend Monique and I took off on a whim (actually it was an MD-80) and went up to the Portland area. We stayed with my sister and finally got to see her awesome home up there in Vancouver, WA. Saturday night we went to “So Dine a Lady” which was an album release party for by buddy Tim’s band “Chip & Drifty” (website to be completed soon). They were great! I had a blast meeting a bunch of people I hadn’t yet, and seeing some old friends too, like Jeff, Woody, and Gordon! We got to go out the the Hot Cake House with Gordon and Woody after the party to catch a little slice of Portland night life (and pancakes).

Then on Sunday my sister threw a party and invited a bunch of her friends over for a BBQ and to meet us. It was fun, she has a lot of cool friends. Gordon (bro-in-law) cooks a mean tri-tip and fed the lot of us with help from side dishes that Monique, Karie and her friends made. Woody and Gordon also came by that day as well to join in the festivities.

Monday we got to see where our niece Ireland goes to school and had a more relaxing day of hanging out at the house until we had to catch the plane home that night.

Now I’m sick. That’s right — sick. And tired believe it or not. sore throat and a cold, my old stand by. Monique brought me home wonton soup last night from Yen Ching though, so that was a good part of the whole thing. Hopefully this won’t last through the weekend, since this is the first weekend I don’t have any really big plans in awhile.
