Blame the new chair!

Monique and I have re-done two of the three bathrooms in this house, and the office. The rest of the place was just paint improvements for the most part. In November, Monique’s parents visited and brought with them a gift for us — a nice comfy chair. We thought we’d put it in our room since we had the most room for it there. But for the Thanksgiving Holiday we kept it down in the Livingroom to provide more seating. After the get together we kinda liked how it fit and kept it down there. The problem was the rest of the furniture didn’t really go with it. What a problem to have. That’s when we made the decision that the Livingroom would be the best room to re-do next.
We had done the paint and the floor when we moved in (and I’m still sore), and my father-in-law and I had just put in new crown molding while he was here for my Birthday so all of that was already crossed off the list. Helping the re-design along, we had some issues with the furniture we had in there: the couches were old and the “entertainment furniture” (which housed our home theater components) that we bought for our last place was a bit large and awkward for this place. With all of this in mind we went shopping.
We ended finding a nice loveseat/chaise lounge combo at Macy’s Home Store on clearance for a steal so we jumped on that. With this new couch and the gifted chair it seemed we were headed down the road to an urban feel in the room. Next we paired the look and feel up with a matching coffee table, end table and occasional chair (don’t look at me, that’s what it’s called) we found at Crate & Barrel. That left us with a needed solution to the bulky entertainment stuff. We consulted the biggest Swedish furniture store we could find. At IKEA you can get great looking stuff for cheap. It may not be the greatest quality in the world, but we weren’t concerned with that since we’re being cost-conscious here and heck we’re replacing IKEA stuff, so why not go back there. This time we bought more shallow bookshelfs in a dark espresso wood color. This color wood matches the coffee and end tables and also the feet on chair that started it all.
On the tech side of this new livingroom was a replacement of the speakers (front left, right and center channels). We listened to a bunch of them I read a ton of reviews. I opted for Klipsch SB-2 Bookshelfs for the L and R, and a Klipsch SC-1 for the center. New to the group was a sub woofer, also a Klipsch. They seemed to have the best thump for the buck and sound even better in our place than they did in the showroom. We have run them through their paces already and I’m sure our neighbors hate us.
I know all of this would go better with pictures, but I’m not done playing hide the wires yet and I need to get that done before the pics go up. Plus there’s one more piece of furniture we’re waiting to arrive. Once it’s all together I’ll get some pics up. Then we can move on to the next home improvement project. They never seem to end!

What is the mysterious last piece of furniture that hasn’t arrived yet? Please say it’s a guillotine! Or a trebuchet.
