Time is fading fast!

I can’t believe it’s the middle of January already. This is just crazy. Stop the world, or slow it down, or something. I need more time in the day …and by day I mean weekend. I haven’t even taken down the Christmas lights yet! Maybe we should become those suspect neighbors that never take their lights down.

The time between Christmas and Monique’s Birthday is fading fast! But I’m prepared. We’re going back up to Arrowhead for the weekend of the 6th through the 8th. We’re renting the same cabin as last time and going with the same friends as last time. I’m looking forward to it!

I say leave ‘em up! I find it sad that as a society we see that leaving “Christmas” lights up around the house is considered “suspect.” Break down those prejudiced barriers Joe! Prove to the world (or at least your neighborhood) that your festive all year round and not just for one month out of the year. Where is written that just because you leave your lights up your labelled as the “Unibomber 2: Electric Boogaloo”? Where I ask you!!! Just… leave… them… be… for the sake of all things good and pure!

Okay, rant over… time for a taco! :-)

I disagree about everything but the taco, mein freund, I think there’s a time for everything, and if you leave the lights up 365/12 you are merely posing as a festive being. We don’t party all year long, thank God! And by taking them down, we enjoy them all the more when they go back up in December! Just like sitting still feels dull if you do it all the time, but it feels great if you do it right after being chased by a bear (and escaping).

Do you get chased by bears often, Arlen? You see, I have a 16 month old baby who doesn’t let up until he’s asleep, so in the sense of comparing Jaden to being chased by a bear, you’re right. However, when he is finally able to handle things on his own I’m sitting down for a year with my “nonposing festive” lights and I will love every waking and nonwaking moment for those 365 days as long as I have Tivo, and maybe a beer, and of course my taco… hehehe!
