The 2nd half of Christmas… or was it the 3rd half?

On Wednesday we drove up to Bass Lake (right next to Yosemite) to meet my mom, my sister, bro-in-law, and niece. When we got there it was pretty cold and foggy, in fact the fog was pretty crazy on the way up there too. Visibility in some places was pretty limited.

We has some food and visited for a bit and then turned in for the night. Ireland, our niece, woke us up the next morning and we opened the window to reveal snowfall! It was pretty incredible. I know, you’re thinking big deal. But I can never remember seeing it snow for as long as I’ve been around. I’ve been TO the snow, to ski, to play, and all that, but I don’t remember ever seeing it fall from the sky. My mom and sister say that I’ve seen it snow before, but I was too young to remember. So this was a special treat for me.

This snow was off and on throughout our visit. In fact, it snowed so much that we didn’t leave the cabin much. Just to go out and play in it, or to go into town to get a few things, and even that was an adventure. We ended up leaving a day early to make sure we didn’t get snowed in and unable to get back for work on Monday. That was a tough decision!
