24 no more?

I think I’m just about to jump off the 24 bandwagon. This season the show is not all that great. I can probably think of 24 reasons to stop watching it, with the #1 reason being Chase Edmunds. Who is named that? Then there’s the president’s brother, who just happened to show up out of nowhere to run the whole re-election campaign. And when’s the last time you met a black guy named Wayne? There’s also Kim, who got a brain implants since last season (too many implant jokes there, so I’ll spare you) and seems destined to take over CTU before the season’s out. The acting is the worst it’s ever been too. But flat out, there’s just not enough people dying. C’mon FOX, don’t forget about why this show was cool, it dared to do things other shows didn’t.

I think I might give it one more week.

Okay, okay, settle down now Joe, ’cause if you jump ship who the hell am I gonna talk to about this show? Jon, Arlen do you watch the 24? I can forgive the chase thing if they kill him off but that probably won’t happen until late in the game and I can’t believe the improvement in Kim’s character (plus it’s like 3 years after last season, so maybe she put herself through J.C. or something) and the Wayne issue… Come on man wasn’t “Wayne” Brady on one your favorite shows with Drew Carrey? Of course I’ve heard everyone all the way down to the Damon bros. claiming he wasn’t really black!! If you got through lst season you have to get through this one. Look how long it took to get the goods going last time… at least four or five episodes!

Yeah, Wayne Brady! But he ain’t so black.

Good points, but at least last season I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. This one is just bad so far. I’ll give it another episode, then we’ll see. People better start dyin! (let’s start with Chase)

I’m just waiting for them to follow inthe footsteps of ALIAS and recap the entire season’s plot in each scene. (Jack Bristow: “Nice to meet you, I’m Sydney’s dad. Have you met Sydney, the girl who was missing for 2 years and we thought she was dead but now she’s back but it turns out she killed some Russian diplomat while she as gone but can’t remember a thing and I want to try to hide that so she doesn’t get in trouble. Boy this is some good coffee!”)

I got your back, Scott. I still watch the 24, and have no intention of giving it up.

Now, Joe did mention a show that I’ve quickly stopped giving a damn about. What in the cob happened to “Alias?” This show was on life support with me this season anyway, but I think they may have pulled the plug with Evil Francie. I mean, not only did they bring back the Evil Double that Sydney shot the hell out of at the end of last season, they turned her into a fembot who apparently can’t be killed. The sad thing is, I actually theorized that they may go this way with her the first time I saw her come back.

It’s fun to poke fun at Kim, so I feel weird about putting up any defense of her, but I think the first season made it pretty clear that while she didn’t have any street smarts, she did have some brains (she was beating her dad at chess in the first episode, right?).

Like Scott said, I thought last season took quite a while to get rolling, but once it did… it was great. Same could be said for season one.

Well, as long as you also give up all shows that are crappier than “24″, then I guess you could drop “24″. But if you quit and then I see you posting about some stuff you saw on “Elimi-Date” or “The Bachelor” then we may need to call in an intervention. :-)

Fair enough on all these great comments, but I still have to stand firm on some of the campiness of Season 2… I mean really, after all the bad and/or stupid things Kim does that I, as a viewer, am supposed to believe, do these writers really expect me to suspend my disbelief for a mountain lion that just happens to come along and is now the major threat to her character! A mountain lion for God’s sakes. What is this a CHiPs episode. Then I could believe the mountain lion storyline, but this is 24! Oh well, here’s to hoping that there will be no such animals in this season and people start kicking the bucket.

I just like that Rich wrote, “What in the cob…”
