Summertime TV

Summer is usually the slow time on TV, and it is again this year. But we figured we’d try a couple more of those crazy reality shows that so many people get hooked on. We’re watching American Juniors and Last Comic Standing. Of these, I enjoy LCS much more. AJ is good and all, but it’s nothing more than a talent show. LCS has a bunch more thought put into it. They did this huge contest with a ton of comedians where they were judged down to 10 comics. Then these 10 comics have to go live together in this big house in the Hollywood hills. Well, they have to do all of these crazy things and most of the time these things end up affecting the relationships between them all and it really builds the background of each one of them. Each week there’s a “face off” between two comics, one that is “voted off” by the majority of the other comics admitting publicly that they KNOW they’re funnier than them, and then one that that person chooses to square off against. Jay Mohr hosts the whole shebang, but he’s not there all that much, just to tie things together. It’s worth a look if’n you got the time on Tuesday nights at 9 on NBC.
