E3 – Gamer’s Heaven

The geek-fest known as E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is happening this week in LA. I like to keep tabs on it from afar as big things are usually revealed there. So far we know that Sony dropped it’s price for the Playstation 2 to $179 (or $199 with the network Adapter) and added some new DVD player features to it, Sony announced a handheld gaming system, and the best racing game of all time is being released this year.
That’s right, Gran Turismo 4 is on it’s way! This screenshot is from the upcoming game (click for a bigger view) and they’ve actually improved on the graphics! Wow! I’ve also heard some rumors about the game that may have some truth to them: GT4 is thought to contain over 2,000 cars, and around 100 tracks! It will also include online play with in-game voice communication! No word on whether it will include a damage model yet, but it doesn’t look like it based on this video that came out today.
I can’t wait for this baby to hit the shelves, and to see what else E3 has in store for us this week! C’mon PS2 hard drive!
