Sports can be crazy

My favorite player in the NHL was traded tonight. Owen Nolan, the guy who we named our cat after, is no longer a San Jose Shark. He’s off to Toronto to join the Maple Leafs. I’ve followed Owen through his career and became an even bigger fan when he came to the Sharks back in 1995. These things happen, of course, but it’s a big downer for me. Seeing as the Sharks probably won’t make the playoffs this year, the first time in 5 years that’s happened, there’s not much to cheer about and this makes it a bit worse. It’ll be tough to watch him wear another team’s sweater.
Earlier today, my Chargers signed a blockbuster free agent. Weird how this would happen on the same day. It’s good news for that team, but it really pales in comparison to the Nolan trade. I wish him luck in Toronto and will be pulling for the Maple Leafs in the playoffs… oh wait. Ed Belfour is their goalie. Well, maybe I won’t root for the team, but I hope Nolan has a good run with them.
