Kingdom Hearts

I broke down and bought something that’s on my wish list this weekend. Friday on the way home from work I stopped by Fry’s and picked up Kingdom Hearts, a new game from Square for the PS2. It’s an interesting game. It’s an adventure/rpg kinda thing, but it’s got Disney characters in it (over a hundred of them!).

Square, who has made all of the Final Fantasy series games, created a story around visiting the different worlds of disney movies and even interacting with their storylines. For example, you arrive in Wonderland just when Alice is on trial in the Queen of Hearts’ court, and you have to gather evidence that proves she’s innocent. Or you fight mythical beasties in Phil and Hercules’ Colliseum trying to acheive hero status. During all of this, Goofy and Pluto (who are in it for their own reasons as Mickey, the King, is missing and they’re trying to locate him) fight right by our side as do other Disney and Square characters. It’s a really unique game that has both brand quality and game quality going for it. If you like Final Fantasy games, highly recommend this one. Check more out at the Official web site for Kingdom Hearts.

What role does 8-Ball play in this game? And will it give me my daily quota of carjackings and mob hits, or do I have to wait for Kingdom Hearts 2: Vice City for that?
